A 15-inch gauge miniature steam railway running a one-mile circuit through the grounds of Haigh Woodland Park. Open Sundays 11am to 4pm — which conveniently coincides with market day. A firm favourite with younger visitors and railway enthusiasts alike. Note it can be a 25-minute walk from the main car park so factor in extra time.
“Lots of posts about this reopening and the hours and the fact you “should not miss it!” when you visit the park and yet when you get to the park it’s a 25 minutes walk from the car park (longer if you’re with a toddler) and it’s not running, there’s no one around and no one has bother...”

A cluster of independent food and drink outlets in the courtyard at the heart of Haigh Woodland Park, open daily 10am to 4pm. The café serves cooked breakfasts, hot lunches and cakes alongside coffee and ice cream — a natural pit stop before or after browsing the market stalls.
“Bought a couple of meat and potatoes pies not sure why they are called that ? Because more potatoes and carrots no sign of any meat , pretty tasteless really .”

An on-site butcher and farm shop at Haigh Woodland Park selling organic and grass-fed meat direct from the farm alongside artisan condiments and locally sourced produce. Open daily 10am to 4pm — the sausages and rump steaks come highly recommended and make for a great post-market treat to take home.
