Trentham Makers Market

Located in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire.

Trentham Makers Market takes place at Trentham Gardens — the spectacular restored Victorian estate on the southern edge of the Potteries that has become one of the most visited garden attractions in the Midlands. Bringing The Makers Market's programme of artisan traders, food producers and live music to this extraordinary setting gives the event a destination quality that is hard to match: a curated independent market set within over 700 acres of lakes, formal Italian gardens and woodland walks.

Expect handcrafted jewellery, ceramics, textiles, homeware, art and gifts alongside artisan food and drink — local bakers, Staffordshire produce, speciality drinks and small-batch food makers whose quality complements the calibre of the venue. Live music adds warmth to the gardens setting, and the combination of market stalls, spectacular gardens and the estate's own lakeside restaurant makes a visit to Trentham an outstandingly enjoyable day at any time of year.

Free to attend, Trentham Makers Market is one of the most scenically spectacular events in the whole programme. The gardens, the lake, the Italian parterre and the estate's own restaurant and shops mean a market day here is never just about the stalls — it's a full day out in one of the finest garden landscapes in England.

About this area

Trentham Gardens is a major visitor attraction and estate in Trentham, on the southern edge of the Potteries urban area in Staffordshire. The estate was originally developed by the Dukes of Sutherland in the nineteenth century, with Sir Charles Barry designing the grand Italianate hall and formal gardens. The hall was demolished in 1912, but the gardens were restored from 2004 onwards into one of England's finest contemporary garden landscapes, incorporating the original Italian garden design alongside miles of new planting.

The estate covers over 700 acres and includes the River Trent lake, Italian gardens, a rose garden, barefoot walks, a shopping village, a garden centre, the Trentham Hotel and multiple restaurant and cafe options. It receives over two million visitors per year and is one of the most significant leisure destinations in the Midlands.

Trentham is situated on the A34 Stone Road approximately three miles south of Stoke-on-Trent city centre. Stoke-on-Trent railway station — with direct services to Manchester, London Euston and Birmingham — is about fifteen minutes by car. The surrounding area includes the Potteries Museum in Hanley and the Gladstone Pottery Museum in Longton.
