Stretford Makers Market

Located in Stretford, Greater Manchester.

Stretford Makers Market brings The Makers Market's monthly programme of artisan traders, food producers and live music to Stretford — a Trafford town with a distinctive identity shaped by its industrial heritage, its communities and its position at the confluence of the Bridgewater Canal and the Ship Canal corridor. It's a market that reflects The Makers Market's commitment to taking its programme beyond the obvious locations and into the communities that benefit most from a well-curated, locally grounded independent event.

Expect handcrafted jewellery, ceramics, textiles, homeware, gifts and art alongside artisan food and drink — local bakers, hot food traders, speciality produce and small-batch makers from across Greater Manchester and Cheshire. Live music runs throughout the day, giving the market its characteristic community warmth and making Stretford town centre an enjoyably different place to be on a market day.

Free to attend monthly in Stretford, the market is served by Metrolink on the Altrincham line — Stretford tram stop is within easy walking distance. It's a market well worth discovering for those who know the area, and an excellent introduction to a part of Greater Manchester that rewards the curious visitor.

About this area

Stretford is a town within the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford in Greater Manchester, situated between Old Trafford and Sale along the Bridgewater Canal corridor. The town has a working-class character rooted in the light industrial and residential development that followed the building of the Bridgewater Canal and the subsequent growth of Trafford Park — once the world's first and largest planned industrial estate — to the north.

Stretford is perhaps best known nationally as the location of the Stretford End at Old Trafford stadium, a short distance to the north. The town's Arndale Centre is one of the largest suburban shopping centres in Greater Manchester, and the town centre has been subject to regeneration investment in recent years aimed at diversifying its offer beyond retail.

Stretford Metrolink stop is served by the Altrincham line, connecting the town to Manchester city centre, Sale, Altrincham and the Airport line with frequent services throughout the day. The Bridgewater Canal towpath provides a scenic walking and cycling route connecting Stretford to Worsley to the north-west and Sale and Altrincham to the south.
