Reddish Artisan Market

Located in Reddish, Stockport, Greater Manchester.

Reddish Artisan Market takes place on the last Saturday of every month in Reddish, Stockport, bringing Independent Street's programme of independent makers and artisan food traders to this close-knit Greater Manchester community. Free to attend and running monthly from June through December, it's a market that has been built as much for local people as for visitors — a monthly event that gives the area a regular focal point and a reason to come together around handmade goods and good food.

Stalls change across the year but consistently deliver handcrafted jewellery, ceramics, textiles, homeware, gifts and art alongside artisan food and drink — local bakers, freshly made hot food, preserve makers and speciality drinks from producers who are genuinely passionate about what they make. The rotating trader line-up keeps things fresh for regulars while giving first-time visitors a consistently strong market to discover.

Free to attend every last Saturday from June through December, Reddish Artisan Market is accessible by bus from Stockport town centre and the surrounding area. Pair it with a trip into Stockport itself — which has one of the North West's most interesting independent food and drink scenes — and you have a proper Stockport Saturday sorted.

About this area

Reddish is a district of the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport in south-east Greater Manchester, situated in the valley of the River Tame between the centres of Stockport and Gorton. The area has a strong working-class identity rooted in the textile and engineering industries that defined the Tame Valley through the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and it retains a distinctly community-minded character that sets it apart from more gentrified parts of the Greater Manchester area.

Reddish Vale Country Park, which runs along the River Tame through the heart of the district, is one of the area's great assets — a Site of Special Scientific Interest with ancient ridge-and-furrow fields, diverse wildlife, riverside woodland and meadows that feel surprisingly remote for a location surrounded by urban Greater Manchester. It connects to the wider Tame Valley corridor and offers walking and cycling routes towards Denton and Hyde.

Stockport town centre, just a short bus ride to the south, has undergone significant regeneration in recent years and now offers one of the most interesting independent food, drink and culture scenes in the Greater Manchester area. The Stockport Viaduct, the old market, the Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery and a growing cluster of independent bars, restaurants and cafés make it well worth exploring as part of any visit to the area. Stockport is served by rail from Manchester Piccadilly and Sheffield.
