Birchwood Artisan Market

Located in Warrington, Cheshire.

Birchwood Artisan Market brings Independent Street's programme of independent makers and artisan traders to Birchwood, Warrington, at selected dates through the year. Taking place in the Birchwood area, the market draws a carefully curated mix of handmade goods makers and artisan food producers to one of east Warrington's most active community locations — a welcome monthly addition to the local calendar.

Stalls cover the range you'd expect from an Independent Street event: handcrafted jewellery, ceramics, textiles, homeware, gifts and art alongside artisan food and drink — local bakers, freshly made hot food, preserves and speciality produce that offer a genuine alternative to the everyday high street. With four dates in 2026, each event brings a fresh mix of traders to discover.

Free to attend at all 2026 dates, Birchwood Artisan Market is easily reached by rail from both Manchester Piccadilly and Liverpool. Check the Independent Street calendar for the confirmed July, August, September and December dates, and combine with a trip into Warrington town centre if you want to make a full day of it.

About this area

Birchwood is a planned township in the east of Warrington, developed as part of Warrington New Town from the 1970s onwards. It is characterised by its low-density residential layout, substantial business and science parks, and Birchwood Shopping Centre, which serves as the commercial hub of the area. The township sits between the M6 and M62 motorways, giving it strong road connections to Manchester, Liverpool and the wider North West.

Warrington itself is undergoing significant investment and regeneration, with the town centre seeing new retail, leisure and cultural development. The wider borough includes Walton Hall and Gardens, a popular public park and estate, as well as Gulliver's World — one of the region's best-known family attractions — and the Warrington Museum and Art Gallery in the town centre.

Birchwood railway station sits on the Liverpool to Manchester line, providing direct services to both city centres and making the area genuinely accessible by public transport. The surrounding Cheshire landscape, with Delamere Forest and the Sandstone Ridge within reasonable distance, offers further exploration for those who want to pair a market visit with time outdoors.
