Wythenshawe Makers Market

Presented by The Makers Market at Wythenshawe Makers Market, Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester.

Wythenshawe Makers Market takes place at the Civic Centre on Rowlandsway in the heart of south Manchester, bringing The Makers Market's monthly programme of artisan traders, food producers and live music to one of the city's most active and well-connected community hubs. Monthly and free to attend, it's a market that draws a loyal crowd from across south Manchester and beyond — proof that some of the best Makers Market events happen well away from the city centre.

Expect handcrafted jewellery, ceramics, textiles, homeware, gifts and art alongside artisan food and drink — local bakers, hot food traders, speciality produce and small-batch makers from across Greater Manchester. Live music runs throughout the day, giving the Civic Centre plaza a warm, sociable energy that makes the market feel like a proper occasion.

Free to attend monthly, the market is served by Metrolink on the Airport line and by bus from across south Manchester, making it one of the most easily reached events in the programme for those coming from the southern half of the city. Wythenshawe Park — with its hall, farm and extensive parkland — is just a short walk away for those who want to make an afternoon of it.

“We had a delightful visit and enjoyed all the food items and drinks we ordered. Our only improvement suggestion would be more sauce on the messy fries - a slight drizzle isnt enough for the dryness of the fries. Merlin was gracious and helpful. All the staff was friendly and interested in our ...”

About this area

Wythenshawe is a township in south Manchester, sitting in the green belt between the city and the Cheshire countryside, with Manchester Airport on its southern boundary. It has a spacious, low-density feel quite different from the denser inner-city neighbourhoods to the north, with generous parkland, open green spaces and a series of distinct local centres spread across the area.

Wythenshawe Park is the centrepiece — 270 acres of historic parkland set around Wythenshawe Hall, a sixteenth-century timber-framed manor house, with a walled garden, a working farm, woodland walks and open grassland that make it one of the most enjoyable green spaces in south Manchester. The park is just a short walk from the Civic Centre and well worth combining with a market visit.

Wythenshawe is served by Metrolink on the Airport line, with stops at Wythenshawe, Benchill, Robinswood Road, Baguley and Martinscroft giving good access from Manchester city centre and across the network. Manchester Airport itself is just a few minutes further down the line, and the M56 provides fast road connections to the national motorway network.

“Lovely park with lots of space to have a picnic, go for a walk/run. Has a petting zoo. Has an outdoor cafe with food trucks, a little pricey but as with anywhere that has the same setup. Has a parking lot but might not have enough space when it's busy.”
