Royal Albert Dock Makers Market

Presented by The Makers Market at Royal Albert Dock Makers Market, Liverpool, Merseyside.

Royal Albert Dock Makers Market takes place at the Royal Albert Dock in Liverpool — one of the most iconic waterfront locations in Britain and a World Heritage Site that draws millions of visitors each year. Bringing The Makers Market's programme of artisan traders, food producers and live music to this extraordinary setting gives the event a backdrop that is almost impossible to match: listed Victorian dock warehouses, the Mersey waterfront, views across to the Wirral and a location that carries the weight of Liverpool's global maritime history.

Expect handcrafted jewellery, ceramics, textiles, homeware, art and gifts alongside artisan food and drink — local bakers, street food traders, speciality drinks and small-batch producers whose work sits naturally within the dock's rich industrial heritage setting. Live music runs throughout the market, which in this location takes on a particularly celebratory quality.

Free to attend monthly at one of the North West's great heritage settings, Royal Albert Dock Makers Market is easily combined with visits to the Tate Liverpool, the Beatles Story, the Merseyside Maritime Museum and the surrounding docklands waterfront. One of the most spectacular market locations in the entire programme.

“We like this place very much. The food is phenomenal! Even when you have to wait longer for food, it's worth it, because the quality of this breakfast is insane! It was the first time I'd eaten a pancake like this, a total wow. Thank you!”

About this area

The Royal Albert Dock is a complex of dock buildings and warehouses in Liverpool, opened in 1846 and designed by Jesse Hartley as the first structure in the UK to be built entirely of non-combustible materials. The dock was for decades one of the busiest in the world, handling cargo from across the British Empire, before falling into disuse in the 1970s and being restored in the 1980s as a mixed-use heritage and leisure destination. It is now a Grade I listed building and part of the Liverpool Maritime Mercantile City UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Today the Albert Dock houses the Tate Liverpool, the Merseyside Maritime Museum, the International Slavery Museum and the Beatles Story visitor attraction. The surrounding dock estate includes restaurants, bars and independent shops housed in the original Victorian warehouses, and the waterfront promenade connects south to the docklands area and north to the Pier Head, the Three Graces and the ferry terminal.

The Albert Dock is within walking distance of Liverpool Lime Street station — about twenty minutes through the city centre — and is served by bus from across the Liverpool area. The wider waterfront connects to Liverpool One, the city centre retail district and the cultural quarter around the Philharmonic Hall and Liverpool's two cathedrals, making it a natural part of any extended Liverpool visit.
