Cheadle Makers Market

Presented by The Makers Market at Cheadle Makers Market, Cheadle, Greater Manchester.

Cheadle Makers Market takes place on Cheadle Green — the historic village green at the heart of this well-loved Stockport suburb — bringing The Makers Market's monthly programme of artisan traders, food producers and live music to one of south Manchester's most community-minded and attractive local centres. It's a market that fits the setting naturally: independent, quality-focused and built around the idea of a proper local gathering place.

The stall mix covers handcrafted jewellery, ceramics, textiles, homeware, gifts and art alongside artisan food and drink — local bakers, hot food traders, speciality preserves and small-batch produce from makers across the region. Live music runs throughout, giving the market a relaxed and sociable atmosphere that encourages people to linger on the green well into the afternoon.

Free to attend monthly in Cheadle, the market is well served by bus from Stockport and Manchester. The surrounding streets of Cheadle village — with their mix of independent shops, cafes and restaurants — make it straightforward to extend the visit into a full afternoon.

An intimate café with a warm welcome, deeply honest food and remarkable value. Open from 10am on Saturdays.

“I called in for lunch on a Saturday and had the minestrone; it was delicious...the best I've ever had. This was filling but managed to squeeze in one of the home made desserts. I was spoilt for choice but decided on a traditional Sicilian 'cake', Iris, made to the owner's family recipe, which w...”

About this area

Cheadle is a suburb within the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport in Greater Manchester, situated between Cheadle Hulme, Gatley and the M60 orbital motorway. The area has a distinctly suburban character shaped by its Victorian and Edwardian development as a commuter settlement, with Cheadle village centre retaining a genuine village feel anchored by the green, the parish church of St Mary and a mix of independent shops and cafes.

Nearby Cheadle Hulme has a more developed independent food and drink scene, and the broader area connects to Heald Green, Gatley and the edges of the Cheshire countryside to the south. East Didsbury and the Mersey Valley green corridor are within a few miles, offering walking and cycling alongside the River Mersey.

Cheadle is accessible by bus from Stockport town centre and Manchester, and is within easy driving distance from across south Manchester and north-east Cheshire. Stockport town centre, with its growing independent food scene and recently regenerated market area, is just a few minutes away.
