Presented by D&D Artisan Markets at Great Sankey Artisan Market,
Great Sankey, Cheshire.
Great Sankey Artisan Market is a relaunched monthly market held in the car park of The Woodlands Pub on Highfield Avenue, Great Sankey, Warrington. Run by D&D Artisan Markets — a company founded and based in Great Sankey — the event brings live music, street food and a curated line-up of artisan stalls back to the heart of the community.
Taking place from 10am until 4pm on the third Saturday of the month, the market re-establishes a fixture that had previously run under a different organiser, giving Great Sankey a reliable monthly artisan market once again.
About this area
Great Sankey is a civil parish within the Borough of Warrington in Cheshire, around two miles west of Warrington town centre. Once a rural chapelry recorded as part of Prescot parish, it grew through nineteenth-century industry along the Sankey Canal — England's first true canal, opened in 1757 to serve the coal and chemical trades — before becoming largely residential through the twentieth century. Today it's regarded as one of the more affluent parts of Warrington, benefiting from its position between Liverpool and Manchester close to the M62.
Sankey railway station sits on the historic Liverpool to Manchester line, with Warrington West station nearby offering more frequent connections into Warrington town centre. The Sankey Canal towpath and the Trans Pennine Trail both pass through the area, offering walking and cycling routes alongside the Sankey Brook. Warrington itself, a short hop away, has its own museum, market and a growing food and drink scene, while Liverpool and Manchester are both within easy reach for a full day out.
